A unique cross between two very hot peppers, the Yellow Scotch Brain pepper has a citrusy flavor and an intense heat level that puts it at the lower end of the superhot category. The Yellow Scotch Brain pepper was created by crossing the Scotch Bonnet and the Yellow 7 Pot Brain Strain. Yellow Scotch Brain peppers look somewhat similar to the Yellow Trinidad Moruga Scorpion pepper, but there are a few slight differences as the Yellow Scotch Brain is flatter and not as round. The exotic peppers are very spicy and have a fruity flavor like their relatives. Fresh ripe pods of the Yellow Scotch Brain have high concentrations of capsicum oil on the inside walls. The peppers start off green and mature to yellow. They average about 400,000 to 800,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), which is hotter than the Red Savina Habanero but not quite as hot as Jay's Peach Ghost Scorpion.
Although this rare and exotic pepper is a cross, it has several well known relatives including the Scotch Bonnet, the Red 7 Pot, Yellow 7 Pot, White 7 Pot, Chocolate 7 Pot, 7 Pot Douglah, and 7 Pot Primo. The 7 Pot pepper is related to the Trinidad Scorpion pepper, one of the hottest peppers in the world.
