The Red Bottle Rocket is a new cross that was developed at Innovation Acre. A relative of the Cayenne, the Red Bottle Rocket pepper has a medium heat level and thin skin. The flavor of the pepper is slightly sweet and bright with a surprising kick that is not overbearing. Although it has not officially been tested on the Scoville Scale, the Red Bottle Rocket is believe to average about 10,000 to 20,000 Scoville Heat Units.
The Red Bottle Rocket looks like a combination of the Cayenne and Peter pepper; however, the end of the pepper is often a pointed cone shape, similar to a rocket. While the flavor and heat level is consistent among pods, the appearance can often vary. The pods typically average 3 to 4 inches in length. The Red Bottle Rocket is a fantastic pepper for salsa, hot sauce and pepper flakes as its thin skin is easy to dry.
