Developed at Innovation Acre by pepper breeder Steve Bender, this unique variety was created by crossing the original Billy Biker Jalapeño with the richly colored Thunder Chocolate Cayenne, resulting in a brown jalapeño with exceptional flavor depth.
The Chocolate Billy Biker stands out with its smooth, glossy pods that mature to a deep chocolate-brown. It delivers the familiar jalapeño flavor profile—fresh, green, and approachable—layered with darker, smokier, and slightly sweet undertones inherited from its chocolate cayenne parentage. The heat sits comfortably in the medium range, averaging about 5,000 to 10,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), which is slightly hotter than the Fresno pepper and very similar to the Irish Shrub pepper. The medium heat level makes it versatile and accessible while still offering a satisfying kick.
