Scoville Heat Units (SHU):
30,000 - 50,000 (Estimated)

Developed by pepper breeder Steve Bender at Innovation Acre, the Caribbean Charapita is an exciting cross between the Caribbean Red Habanero and the legendary Aji Charapita. The goal of this project was to create a larger, more productive version of the Aji Charapita while preserving its famous intensely fruity, sweet flavor—and it delivers beautifully.

The plants produce clusters of small, elongated pods that start green and ripen to a vibrant red, offering a more substantial harvest than traditional Charapitas. Flavor is where this pepper truly shines: bright, tropical, and naturally sweet, making it exceptional for tropical hot sauces, salsas, marinades, and for drying into aromatic chili powder.

Heat levels are similar to the Aji Charapita, averaging 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville Heat Units, giving it a lively but approachable burn that enhances dishes without overpowering them. If you’re looking for a unique, high-flavor pepper with great productivity and versatility,  the Caribbean Charapita is a standout addition to any pepper garden.

I’m thrilled with how well these seeds performed; every seed sprouted strong and the plants are already producing gorgeous pods. The unique blend of habanero and Aji Charapita gives such a sweet, vibrant flavor that adds depth to every dish. Great value and excellent results.

    Caribbean Charapita seeds

These Caribbean Charapita seeds were fantastic from the start — they germinated quickly and the seedlings are vigorous and healthy. The fruity heat and tropical flavor of the peppers were exactly what I hoped for, perfect for making my own hot sauces and salsas this season. I’m so impressed with the quality and can’t wait to plant more next spring!
