A relative of the Big Black Mama, the Big Yellow Mama pepper’s appearance is somewhat similar to the Yellow Ghost pepper and Fatalii pepper. Big Yellow Mama peppers were developed by Troy Primeaux, who created the pepper by crossing the 7 Pot Douglah and the Naga Morich. Primeaux is also credited with creating the 7 Pot Primo, one of the hottest peppers in the world.
Most Big Yellow Mama peppers have rough skin and average about 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units. To go along with its spicy heat level, the Big Yellow Mama has a fruity, citrus-like flavor. It’s definitely one of the hottest yellow peppers in the world. Like Fatalii peppers, the Big Yellow Mama has thin walls and is a popular choice for citrus hot sauces and salsas, as well as chili powder.
