The Yellow 7 Pot Douglah was created by crossing the original 7 Pot Douglah and the Yellow Trinidad Moruga Scorpion pepper. The Yellow 7 Pot Douglah is similar in size to the Chocolate 7 Pot Douglah pepper, but the Chocolate Douglah has a higher heat level. The peppers are not only extremely spicy but also have a fruity, citrus-like flavor that can add a unique and intense heat to dishes when used sparingly. Yellow 7 Pot Douglah peppers can be used in hot sauces, salsas, and as a spice in various dishes to add heat and flavor.
It is believed that the Yellow Douglah is not quite as spicy at the original 7 Pot Douglah, which averages about 850,000 to 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units, but the yellow version has a tropical flavor with a fruitier finish. 7 Pot Douglah pepper plants, which typically grow to be about three to four feet tall, produce wrinkled peppers that are slightly smaller than tennis balls. 7 Pot peppers fall under the super hot category because of their very spicy heat level. It’s slightly hotter than the Red 7 Pot, making it one of the hottest peppers in the world, but not quite as hot as the Carolina Reaper or Trinidad Moruga Scorpion on the Scoville Heat Scale.
There are several different colored strains of 7 Pot peppers, including the Red 7 Pot, Yellow 7 Pot, White 7 Pot, Chocolate 7 Pot, 7 Pot Brain Strain, and 7 Pot Primo. The 7 Pot pepper is related to the Trinidad Scorpion pepper, one of the hottest peppers in the world.
