The Red Aribibi Gusano Caterpillar pepper was originally grown in Aribibi, Bolivia. It resembles a caterpillar worm, as Gusano translates to “worm.” It is a rare and exotic hot pepper which has a fruity flavor to complement its hot heat level. The pepper plant will grow to be about two to three inches tall and produces worm-like peppers that start off green and ripen to red. They have a strong fruity flavor and the plant itself is very high yielding.
The Red Aribibi Gusano Caterpillar pepper averages about 5,000 to 30,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), which is similar to the Lemon Drop, Bulgarian Carrot, and Bishop’s Crown pepper.
