A rare 7 Pot pepper variation, the 7 Pot Jonah pepper is slightly larger and hotter than the original 7 Pot. Like most 7 Pot varieties, the 7 Pot Jonah has a fruity flavor and is considered a superhot pepper. The pods are approximately two inches in length and often have scorpion stinger, similar to the Trinidad Scorpion. 7 Pot Jonah peppers start off green and mature to red. The peppers have thin skin making them a nice choice for extreme hot sauces, salsas, and powders. The heat level is similar to that of the Ghost pepper and Naga Morich as 7 Pot Jonah peppers average about 800,000 to 1,200,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU).
The 7 Pot pepper was originally grown in Trinidad, and there are several different colored strains, including the Red 7 Pot, White 7 Pot, 7 Pot Brain Strain, Chocolate 7 Pot, 7 Pot Primo, and 7 Pot Douglah. The 7 Pot pepper is related to the Trinidad Scorpion pepper, one of the hottest peppers in the world.
