The Pockmark Ghost Pepper is an hybrid pepper created by crossing the visually striking Pink Tiger Ghost pepper with the vibrant Pockmark Orange pepper. The pepper has a blend of traits from both parent plants, resulting in a pepper that stands out for its vivid coloration and distinctive texture.
The Pockmark Ghost pepper typically ripens to a fiery orangish peach, with splashes of deep purples and streaks of lighter shades depending on its growing conditions. The surface of the pepper is characterized by its bumpy, dimpled appearance—traits inherited from the Pockmark Orange—giving it a textured, almost pockmarked look. The elongated shape and tapered end resemble that of the Pink Tiger Ghost, and some pods may exhibit the slight striping or mottled patterns typical of the Pink Tiger lineage.
The Pockmark Ghost is extremely spicy, with Scoville Heat Units (SHU) ranging from about 800,000 to 1,000,000 SHU, depending on its genetics and environment. The initial flavor is fruity and sweet, with hints of citrus and floral undertones, but the heat rapidly builds to an intense, fiery burn that lingers for several minutes.
