Jay’s Red Ghost Scorpion pepper was originally developed by Jay Weaver, a pepper grower in Eastern Pennsylvania. It is a cross between a Ghost pepper and a Trinidad Scorpion. It grows into various shapes, with some having tails like a Trinidad Scorpion. The red skin is thin and bumpy like a Ghost pepper. The heat level is extremely hot with a fruity flavor, similar to that of the Ghost pepper. Jay's Red Ghost Scorpion pepper ranges from 800,000 to 1,100,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU).
Jay's Red Ghost Scorpion pepper is in the Ghost pepper family and its close relative is Jay's Peach Ghost Scorpion. There are several different colored strains of the Ghost pepper, including the Red Ghost pepper, White Ghost pepper, Peach Ghost pepper, Chocolate Ghost pepper, and Yellow Ghost pepper. The Ghost pepper is related to the Naga Viper, Dorset Naga, Naga Morich, and Chocolate Bhutlah.
At Tyler Farms, we grow our plants the old fashioned way: no pesticides, no synthetic fertilizers, and we only use all natural fertilizers such as worm castings and fish emulsion.
Plants are shipped in 3 inch reusable plastics pots and approximately 3 to 6 inches tall.
