We hope you're excited about receiving your plant! Here are instructions for your plant:
1. Carefully remove your plant from the box.
2. Remove the tape around the plant and transplant into a larger container using premium potting soil.
3. Water and light is necessary but don't over water and ensure clear drainage. Keep your plant away from direct sunlight for two to three days.
4. Begin to harden off your plant once outside temperatures are spring-like. The plants will not be able to handle a full day of direct sunlight immediately, so it is essential to harden off your plants
A great deal of care has been taken to package your plants, but it has been in a dark box for two or three days and possibly exposed to extreme temperatures. Your plants may look a little wilted or dry, but this is not uncommon and nothing to be concerned about. With proper watering, your plants will rejuvenate themselves.
Hardening Off
In order to successfully grow peppers and tropical fruit trees, growers should start the seeds indoors and transplant them outside once the temperatures are warm enough to support proper plant growth. Prior to moving young plants outside, it is important to “harden off” your plants. Hardening off is the process of moving plants outdoors for a portion of the day to gradually introduce them to sunlight, dry air, and cold nights. In order to properly harden off your plants, the following steps should be followed:
1. On a mild day, start with one hour of filtered sunlight (Filtered Sunlight is when the sun shines on the plant through the branches or leaves of another plant or tree, or through a structure, but avoiding full, direct sunlight). Make sure plants are protected from strong sun, wind, hard rain and cool temperatures.
2. Increase exposure to filtered sunlight for one hour the following day, providing the young plant with a total of two hours of filtered sunlight on day 2.
3. Add one hour for each day of the process so that the plant will receive 7 hours of filtered sunlight by day 7.
4. After one week of hardening off, the plant is ready to be placed in its permanent location.
