The Cowhorn pepper is one of the longest peppers in the world, as it typically grows to be about eight to ten inches in length. To put it into perspective, it would take at least three normally-sized Jalapeno peppers to match the total length of the average Cowhorn pepper. Don’t let its large size fool you; this pepper’s heat level is actually family-friendly between mild and medium. The Cowhorn pepper ranges from 2,500 to 5,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). The thick walls and sweet mild heat make the Cowhorn pepper great for pickling, hot sauces, and salsas. Some people even substitute the Cowhorn for the Jalapeno pepper because the Cowhorn pepper has a sweeter flavor.
For those looking for more heat, the Cayenne pepper and Serrano pepper are both popular choices. Additional sweet peppers that are extremely popular include Shishito peppers, Ruffled Pimento peppers, Santa Fe Grande peppers, and Mini Sweet peppers.
At Tyler Farms, we grow our plants the old-fashioned way: no pesticides, no synthetic fertilizers, and we only use all-natural fertilizers such as worm castings and fish emulsion.
Plants are shipped in 3-inch reusable plastic pots and are approximately 4 to 6 inches tall.
