A relative of the original Fatalii, the Chocolate Fatalii is a large, spicy, thin-walled pepper with a sweet, smoky flavor and aroma. This particular variety was created at Innovation Acre by crossing the Chocolate Devil's Tongue and the Yellow Fatalii. A great pepper for citrus hot sauces and salsas, the Chocolate Fatalii can also be dried to make a flavorful chili powder. In addition to its fruity flavor, it also has a hint of smokiness. The Chocolate Fatalii is a hot pepper as it ranges from 125,000 to 400,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), making it slightly hotter than the Habanero pepper, but not quite as hot at the Ghost pepper.
