Originally developed in Italy, the Chocolate Apocalypse Scorpion is a superhot pepper that due to its intense heat level. Although it has not yet been tested on the Scoville Scale, the Chocolate Apocalypse Scorpion is drawing comparisons to the Carolina Reaper pepper, which averages 1,569,300 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) and some peppers have been tested over 2,200,000 SHU. The Chocolate Apocalypse Scorpion pepper’s appearance is like a combination of Chocolate Ghost Pepper, Chocolate Trinidad Scorpion, and Chocolate Carolina Reaper all wrapped into one pepper. The pepper plant grows to be about three to four feet tall and produces beautiful brownish pods, most of which will have the signature scorpion stinger.
Like other chocolate varieties, it has a slightly sweet, smoky flavor with an intense heat level. The Chocolate Apocalypse Scorpion should be used sparingly as just a small piece of this pepper can provide enough heat for an entire dish.
