Avocados are one of the wonderful fruits of summer. High in nutrition and flavor, nothing signals the start of summer like a delicious lime guacamole dip with tortilla chips. Bacon Avocados have smooth, thin skin that is dark green in color with faint speckles throughout. The Bacon Avocado is less oily than the Hass Avocado, but equally as delicious, with a buttery and creamy flavor that compliments almost any dish.

The Bacon avocado is a hybrid of two Mexican Avocado varieties, and it was originally cultivated in 1954 by James Bacon in Buena Park, California. Nearly all varieties of Avocado trees can grow successfully in areas with mild winters. As a more cold resistant cultivar, hardy to twenty-five degrees, the Bacon Avocado is also a popular variety in areas with lower winter temperatures and is said to be a good choice for growers in USDA hardiness zones nine and ten.

Even when they are not fruiting, Bacon Avocado trees are beautiful tropical trees. As with other tropical fruits, Bacon Avocado trees can be grown indoors, on balconies, patios, and limited-space gardens. Bacon are one of the hardiest avocado varieties available.  Enjoy the attractive trees as ornamentals if you choose to plant your Bacon Avocado trees in an indoor container!

Our complete tropical fruit seed collection includes  Key LimeMeyer LemonBlood Orange, Mango, Kiwano Horned Melon, Dragon Fruit (Pitaya), Hass Avocado, and Papaya seeds. Our tropical fruit seeds combined with our pepper seeds provide growers with a unique experience: paradise and a little spice!

Safely packed and fresh for planting

The seed all came in the mail looking very good. The free shipping was a nice bonus too. I planted them in growing containers and now I have a bunch of mini avacado trees. I'm thinking about getting seeds for the other varieties too.

We use these for rootstock at our nursery and are continually impressed with the freshness and germination rate.
