Originally grown in Peru, the Aji Rojo is a rare and exotic hot pepper that has a fruity flavor and a heat level that is comparable to a mild Habanero. The size and shape of the Aji Rojo is somewhat similar to the world famous Ghost pepper, but the Aji Rojo is slightly smaller. The peppers start off green and ripen to red. The plants can grow as high as four feet tall and are high yielding.
The Aji Rojo averages about 40,000 to 70,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), which is similar to the Sugar Rush Peach, Cayenne, Black Cobra, Kung Pao, and Pequin pepper.
Plants are shipped in 3 inch reusable plastics pots and approximately 4 to 6 inches tall.
