The 7 Pot Madballz pepper is a cross between the Yellow 7 Pot and the Chocolate Ghost pepper. The peppers are considered superhots as they typically average over 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). In addition to a dynamic heat level, the 7 Pot Madballz actually has a delicious fruity flavor, with a hint of smokiness. The 7 Pot Madballz pepper, which has a wrinkly skin similar to Ghost pepper varieties, starts off light green and ripens to a light burgundy color. It was developed in the United States by a pepper grower nicknamed Madhatter. The 7 Pot Madballz pepper grows to be about 3 inches long and the plant can get up to 4 feet tall.
The 7 Pot pepper was originally grown in Trinidad, and there are several different colored strains, including the Red 7 Pot, White 7 Pot, 7 Pot Brain Strain, Chocolate 7 Pot, 7 Pot Primo, and 7 Pot Douglah. The 7 Pot pepper is related to the Trinidad Scorpion pepper, one of the hottest peppers in the world.
